Burnt Oak is an area in north west London, in the borough of Barnet. It is to the east of Wealdstone and to the north of Wembley Park. Burnt Oak has its own tube station, and is on the Northern line. It is about 25 minutes away from Euston Station, and about 50 minutes from Heathrow Airport.

The name Burnt Oak was first recorded in 1754, as the name for a field to the east of Edgware Road. The field changed hands in 1844, and by the end of the 19th century a residential estate had been built there. A post office, grocers and bakery were also established. The population of the area stayed fairly small until the 1920s, when Burnt Oak tube station opened and the Watling Estate was built. The population increased dramatically, and a new set of shops and multiple schools were built to serve the area.

Today, Burnt Oak is known for its multicultural range of shops. Amongst others, these sell traditional Indian, Turkish and Nigerian foods and products, and reflect the multicultural nature of the area. There is also a large eastern European community living in the area, with residents originating from Romania, Poland and Bulgaria.
